1st Gibson in my arsenal

Super sweet guitar. Brand new with some minor imperfections. Great sounding AXE for sure. Unbelievable sound and super smooth. Very nice Guitar for the price. Sweetwater is so good with customer service that I can't thank em enough. They made the whole transaction my choice. Meaning that they give me the choice to either want to exchange or get a credit from the indentation on the read more neck which was not bad but it is noticeable but honestly my friends who read this, it gives it character. There was some ink mark also in neck but I have already worn it off by playing. It was not from Sweetwater. Absolutely a Gibson problem. Nothing major. And yes you ask why a 5 star? Well perfection is not the only way to rate something. It's about the team at Sweetwater and how the go far and beyond to make sure the customer is happy. Thanks team again. Your absolutely top notch. And y'all always deliver

Incredible Guitar!

I'm not the actual purchaser of this guitar, My wife ordered it for me from Sweetwater, late in the evening on 03-07-2022 as a retirement gift for me. I've ordered from Sweetwater in the past and the service always exceeds my hopes. I own Gibsons but have never owned an SG. Some have been great and some are a little lacking in the quality control department. I felt safe with Sweetwater read more due to their inspection prior to shipping. The SG is the less expensive Tribute model in cherry. I could have ordered the pricier standard but I'll explain that in a minute. First, The build quality is outstanding. Not a blem to be found anywhere. The feel is incredible, Frets, hardware, and neck. I had to adjust the action to my taste but that's normal for any guitar you buy. I love mahogany and was pleasantly surprised with the maple neck, I'll find it to be stronger and worry less of a break. The guitar really shows gibson quality. The sound is great but a little on the bright side so I ordered Gibson nickle covers and installed them. They look great and tamed the highs giving me the absolute perfect tone. Perfect! Done! with the binding, If you have ever had to take a Gibson in for a refret or even a fret dressing with the binding over the fret ends, you paid a whole lot more than I will with no binding and that was the deciding factor. A well balanced great playing with perfect tone is what I got. The case is a soft/hard tight fit gig bag type that is really safe and hig quality. I mighty buy a hardshell case but I'm in no hurry. I highly recommend.

Beautiful guitar, the most comfortable I have played. Lightweight, great neck, smooth and responsive. The only minor downside is that the included toggle switch poker chip is not useable due to the switch neck being too short to accommodate. Thanks to my sales engineer Blake for all his help. I'll be back!

Awesome natural look and finish is well done. Thanks Sweetwater for always going the distance in making things easy. Thanks Andrew for always being in touch. This is my first 100%, real, bonefide Gibson and I could not be happier! The look is incredible, the sound is beautiful, and it almost feels unreal. My salesperson, Brandt Miller, was invaluable through the purchasing and research process and I am stoked to come home to this guitar everyday

Forever Guitar (SG Standard Tribute - Vintage Cherry Satin)

I had a difficult time finding this model of guitar from brick and mortar stores as well as online stores, yet Sweetwater had two in stock. This model has everything I need and want. I know that that the quality of guitars from oversees can be good; however, I wanted a Gibson, something made the U.S.A, a forever guitar. I called to inquire with the sales engineer about the guitar. read more He made me feel comfortable, and after discussing the options, I decided to make the purchase online. Opening the box on arrival was unbelievable. Goodies (and candy!) in the box, and the shock of seeing that guitar in the case was magical. I almost cried when I saw the baby picture. I took the guitar out of the soft case (awesome) and played a bit. It was in tune. I coudn't believe it. It was set up like I like it and I didn't have to work on it. The guitar is fantastic and my experience with Sweetwater and their people was very positive. I'm very happy I went with Sweetwater, here's a Tribute to their team for bringing me my forever guitar.

Unbelievable tone, light weight, 6.2 lbs, perfect neck and it's a Gibson. I am a small older woman, but I saw them all from the '60's, and had to have my brother's replica, a '61 sg. Have most major brands at this price and none checked all my boxes. My Fender strat doesn't compare with tone, just beautiful. I play blues and the strings right out of the 2 boxes, bent like butter. read more Great setup. Sweetwater, please don't change. Thank you for wonderful service!

Exactly what I was looking for

I have owned a '09 Gibson SG Standard and multiple Epi SGs. I ended up dumping the Gibson and exclusively played an Epi Muse because I just couldn't get the Gibson to stay in tune and the tone just plain sucked. I had the Muse Plek'd at Sweetwater and was blown away at how it played. Then I saw that the Gibsons are Plek'd at the factory. I made the decision to buy the Standard Tribute read more based on the fact that it was Plek'd. When I plugged this into my Marshall JCM 2000 half stack, I couldn't get the grin off my face. It was exactly the tone I was after. At the next band rehearsal, all the guys commented on the tone. This guitar plays beautifully. The satin finish is smooth, and is not nearly as hot red as the photos on Sweetwater. This is a great value for the price. If you want an SG in your arsenal, this is it.

Great guitar!

This turned out to be my favorite guitar... love it.. it even smells good, lol. Anyway, I have a Jackson pro Monarkh, Jackson pro soloist hss and a Warmoth altered shape hh strat w/explorer neck and the SG feels the best... light, comfortable and sounds great. I don't like gloss necks or pickup covers, so this was perfect. I did add locking Kluson tuners (direct fit) and top-wrapped read more the tail piece (the strings touched the back of the bridge) and, of course, set it up to my liking (use EB hybrid slinky 9-46). Sounds nice and bright (maple neck) with lots of crunch and sounds great with my pedals. HIGHLY RECOMMEND! Thanks Sweetwater and Patrick!

Really Good for "Chicken Pluckin'"

It's light, long, and quite comfortable. It balances better that I read in advance. One note: it's feel with lights is similar to my Tele, a little stiff. I purchased a scratch and dent and can't find the scratches and dents whatsoever. But the clear! Wow, for a Gibson, turn down a little bit and the clear through a Fender amp is sweet, pleasing. It's action is very low, maybe read more not the best for slide, but lends itself to a slight upward picking that adds a little snap to the notes that I've always called "Chicken Pluckin'." If you squeeze a few tennis balls, it's string stretching is easily controlled and on the spot. I like it!
