Beautiful
Check the specs to get the pertinent info. The specs are spot on. Workmanship/ playability/sound is great. Next best thing to the real deal. This is as close to a '54 Strat as I'll get in my lifetime!
Another fantastic Squier CV
First, BIG shout-out to SW's 55 pt inspection team! They're a huge reason I keep coming back. Never a worry when I place an order. Now, onto the guitar: It's great. Professional build quality. Awesome neck and finish. Components are sound and sturdy. In paying homage to the real-deal 50's Stratocaster, Squier nailed it.
Awesome stratocaster for the money
The one I received is fantastic. I`ll start with the tuners, tight with zero slippage, nut cut perfectly, frets level,(needed cleaning)no sprout, neck feels great, pickups sound nice, volume/tone knobs and 5 way selector are smooth and sturdy, The guitar setup out of the box was quite good and playable. I set up to my specs, floated the trem and the guitar is a joy to play with great… read more tuning stability. The one minor fault was the input jack nut was loose, tightened, and the input jack was so tight I could barely pull the cord out. I ended up removing the jack plate screws and input jack so I could bend back and open the part that holds the cord jack in place. It only took me 5 minutes to fix. I highly recommend this stratocaster, especially at this very affordable price. Even with the input jack issue I still give it 5 stars.
2 tone Awesomeness
I was pretty torn between the 2 tone and 3 tone sunburst but I LOVE playing the maple necks so much I went with this one. It arrived in good physical condition but I had to lower the action, add some relief to the neck, and adjust the intonation on 3 of the strings. Although it didn't take long, I don't like dealing with that. I prefer to have it ready to go out the box. It… read more now feels and plays great. I kind of feel like because this particular model is not as in demand as say the lake placid blue one that it doesn't get the attention it should before being shipped out. You may have to tweak it some or have someone set it up for you. My ONLY issue is with their delivery service. This guitar requires a signature at delivery. My delivery person left it right in front of my house without ever making contact. I was not home. He then marked that I had signed for the guitar but interestingly misspelled my name. That makes me feel insecure about making a future purchase. Not Sweetwater's fault but should be noted. Overall, I am EXTREMELY satisfied with this purchase and Sweetwater always offers the best customer experience hands down- thanks again Drew Foster.
The positive reviews are true!!!
I usually don`t write reviews but I had to for this guitar. After reading a ton of reviews regarding the Squire Classic Vibe 50s and owning a 2018 MiM Stratocaster I was on the verge of buying another MiM due to selling the one I had. I never was really disappointed with the MiM but to me it just lacked that hardcore Fender Strat tone I was looking for. Don`t get me wrong, it did… read more have good tone but it wasn`t great tone (vintage tone). I could afford to buy an American Stratocaster but I could not see spending that kind of money when I am not a professional player. What I did learn from studying up on the Squire 50s is that it has the Alnico pickups instead of the Ceramic pickups like the MiM which is a huge plus. In addition, the tone wood (body) which is pine on the 50s Classic Vibe is the tone wood (body) that they used on some of the earlier Stratocasters. After I had read several of the reviews I rolled the dice and bought me one from Sweetwater. I got the guitar and was really surprised on how well it was set up right out of the box (Thank you Sweetwater). I didn`t have to do anything to it, action was spot on (low) and guitar was in tune. I looked the guitar over and the finish was flawless. I had a good sit down with the guitar on both a Fender tube and a Peavey SS amp and I have to say, I am very very happy with the purchase that I made. The guitar does have that sweet Fender tone that I was looking for. It`s better than MiM tone that I was getting by a good margin (MiM more for playing modern stuff). If you want to take the guitar just a bit further, you can replace the tremolo bridge with a MiM tremolo as an upgrade and you will have guitar that sounds really really close to an American Fender without the large price tag that comes with it. If your looking for a super good guitar, well made, plays fantastic and oozes Fender tone, you can`t go wrong here. Worth every dime and then some. Don`t let that Squire name stop you, you will be rewarded very nicely. Oh, and a shout out to Joe Perrone from Sweetwater, thank you Joe :)
